The Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Initiative (LSFI) was established in 2020 to coordinate sustainable finance efforts in Luxembourg by the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Luxembourg for Finance and the High Council for Sustainable Development. The LSFI is a public-private partnership, and it is publicly funded.

Centre of Excellence and Knowledge Hub
The LSFI is Luxembourg’s coordinating entity on sustainable finance, driving change across the whole ecosystem as a Centre of Excellence and Knowledge Hub, supporting the financial sector to accelerate the financing of the transition, and measuring progress. Our vision is for Luxembourg to be a global centre for sustainable finance.
Why the LSFI?
The concept of establishing the LSFI emerged in 2018 when the Luxembourg Government, in partnership with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), published the Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Roadmap. A key recommendation of the Roadmap was creating a coordinating body dedicated to sustainable finance and elaborate a strategy for Luxembourg on SF ; consequently the LSFI was launched in 2020 and afterwards, the 2023-2028 Coalition Agreement and the Ministry of Finance 10-point Action plan on sustainable finance reinforced the LSFI’s role as the central coordinating entity in this domain.
